PIP Presentations

We have had some of the most wonderful PIP's this week. I love how everyone has individualised their PIP presentations, from videos, models, PowerPoint presentations, journals, scrapbooks to posters! The projects have truly been magnificent, unique and extremely enjoyable. Although some of the students have know one another for quite some time now, it has been wonderful to watch the class connect with their peers and discover new things about each other.

April-Marie

April-Marie made a video all about her favourite things. We loved watching the interview with your pets, what a great idea April-Marie!

Joshua R.

Joshua has been very interested in learning all about endangered animals and so for his PIP he created an endangered animal album PowerPoint presentation.

We loved learning all about endangered animals Joshua.
There were many questions for Joshua at the end of his presentation!

Liam made a scrapbook style journal all about him. 

Travis

Travis has recently moved into a new house. For his PIP he decided that he wanted to make a model of the floor plan of his new house that he loves.

Matthew V.

Matthew designed a big cardboard box call 'All About Me'. He filled his box with all kinds of interesting objects! We loved learning more about you Matthew. Great Job!

Our Easter Hat Creations

So much fun was had by all this afternoon in 2BV as we designed and created the best Easter hats ever!

Thank you to the wonderful parents who came and assisted in making the hats with the children.

Mosaic Artworks & Babushka Dolls

It is so nice to hear the students encouraging each other when they notice another student working hard to achieve a person goal. Well done Jack for the outstanding effort you have made this week. Alisha, it's great to see you settling in to your new school and the way you settle into your work.

2BV's artistic travels have come to an end this term. Over the last couple of weeks, students were finishing their Mosaic artworks that were inspired by our 'visit' to Italy. These were laminated and students were very happy to be able to finally take them home. Here are a few from the class... they all looked amazing!

Our last 'overseas trip' in Art was to Russia where we learnt a little bit about Babushka Dolls. It took us a little while to cut out all the pieces and match them up correctly. This is what our Babushka Dolls looked like when they were finished.

2BV, what was your favourite artwork this term? and Why?

Making Kazoos

2BV were very excited today that we were finally able to make our kazoos. As we have been learning about sound in Science this term, we've learnt that sound travels through vibrations and some of the many different ways that sound can be created.

Here's how we made our kazoos

Materials

• cardboard roll / tube (one per student)
• wax / baking paper
• rubber bands
• scissors

Procedure

1. Cut a small square of waz paper about one inch larger than the opening of the cardboard tube.
2. Wrap the wax paper over one end of the tube and secure it with a rubber band.
3. Put the open end of the kazoo up to your mouth and hum a tune into it.

In our lesson today, we explored how the kazoos amplified the sound when we hummed into them and how the sound of our voices changed when we spoke into the kazoos. We had lots of fun making funny sounds. We were all fascinated with the vibrations that could be heard and felt because of the baking paper on the end of the cardboard roll.

At the end of the day we used a kazoos to create our own version of 'Twinkle twinkle little star'.

Mums & dads, I am sure you were entertained by the kazoos that came home today.

PIP Presentations from Wednesday & Thursday

My Family

April presented her PIP all about her family. She had illustrated her project on her own and shared about some of the things she enjoys doing with her family. Well done April.

My Family

Jack had prepared a poster with some favourite memories with his family. He presented this to the class well, speaking clearly & confidently in front of his peers. Great effort Jack!

Cheer leading

Abbey presented her PIP about all the things she loves about cheer leading. She used some of her favourite photos as prompts for her presentation to the class. Thanks for sharing about your cheer leading Abbey. 

A Tree about Me

Georgia had made a tree filled with everything about her. She shared about her family, likes, dislikes, favourite things, interests and sports. Thank you Georgia for all your efforts in making your PIP.

Ayotomiwa shared about the people in her family and how they are part of her family tree. We loved hearing about your family.

All about Matthew

We enjoyed watching Matthew's PowerPoint presentation about him and the things he likes to do. Well done Matthew!
